Who came up with an idea skatepark in Pietrasanta ?
The town of Pietrasanta wanted to make a skatepark , the budget was small and with Marco Morigi we were planning a low cost skateplaza… then the idea of using the marble came to me , because I always see around our areas scraps of marble with interesting shapes to skate . We thought that we can add a few pieces of marble inside the skatepark…There was a meeting with the ARTCO company that had all those scraps with amazing skating forms , perfect bumps and quarters . They were very happy to cooperate with us ! From there, the enthusiasm has gone up and we decided to have all the objects with wasted marble and adapting the skatepark to them instead of the other.
The idea became also due to the fact that Pietrasanta is world famous for the artistic working of marble and using scraps of companies it seemed a great way to integrate the skateapark in the history and culture of the city and do something that will be beautiful to see as well as functional
In how much time this project was completed?
As like the other skatepark projects is the result of a long project , that date was back many years ago etc etc ..Since the municipality has decided to actually do the skate park until the opening day has passed quite some time, something like a year … but in reality the actual time in which we have designed, developed and built the park was very short because the municipality had to respect the constraints and thus the stage of practical realization has been very intense and lasted actually few months.
Whitch object of skate plaza do you like most ?
Perhaps the bump to bump with the side bank … is not easy to skate but offers lots of possibilities!
When the first 2014 contest ?
In 2013, we were a bit lazy and we don’t have organized major events at the skatepark … we enjoyed the park without thinking too much to organize things! For 2014 we have no projects yet , but definitely something that we would like most is to get even more people from outside to the park , that can be a contest or demo or whatever!

A chi e venuta l’idea dello skatepark a Pietrasanta?
Il comune di Pietrasanta voleva fare uno skatepark, il budget era poco e quindi con Marco Morigi stavamo progettando una skateplaza low cost… poi l’idea di utilizzare il marmo è venuta a me perchè da sempre vediamo in giro per la nostra zona scarti di marmo con forme interessanti da skateare. Pensavamo di inserire solo alcuni pezzi in marmo, poi c’è stato l’incontro con la ditta ARTCO che aveva tutti quegli scarti con forme da paura tipo bumps e quarters ed erano presi bene a collaborare con noi! Da lì l’entusiasmo è salito ed abbiamo deciso di fare tutte le strutture con gli scarti di marmo adattando lo skatepark ad essi invece che il contrario.
L’idea è anche dovuta al fatto che Pietrasanta è famosa nel mondo per la lavorazione artistica del marmo e quindi usare gli scarti delle ditte ci sembrava un’ottimo modo per integrare lo skateapark nella storia e nella cultura della città e fare qualcosa che fosse bello da vedere oltre che funzionale.
Quanto tempo ci e voluto per portare a termine questo progetto
Come per quasi tutti gli skateparks è frutto di un lungo progetto, richieste di uno skatepark che risalgono a molti anni fa etc etc… anche dal momento che il comune ha deciso di fare effettivamente lo skatepark all’inaugurazione è passato parecchio tempo, qualcosa tipo un anno… ma in realtà il tempo effettivo in cui abbiamo progettato, studiato e realizzato il park è stato molto breve perchè il comune doveva rispettare dei vincoli e quindi nella fase concreta della realizzazione è stata molto intensa ed è durata effettivametne pochi mesi.
La struttura che ti piace di piu della skate plaza?
Forse il bump to bump con il bank di lato… non è facile da skateare ma offre tantissime possibilità!
A quando il primo contest 2014?
Nel 2013 siamo stati un po’ pigri e non abbiamo organizzato grossi eventi allo skatepark… ci siamo goduti il park senza pensare troppo ad organizzare cose! Per il 2014 non abbiamo ancora progetti ma sicuramente la cosa che ci piacerebbe di più è far arrivare al park ancora più gente da fuori, che sia per contest o demo o whatever!
Land Of Marble – a short documentary about the first skatepark ever completely made of marble
After one year and a half of hard work, Land of Marble is out. It follows the development and building of the first skatepark ever built with all the obstacles made of wasted pieces of white marble, abundant in the area. Besides the stories of the construction, the documentary is filled with intense skateboarding as well, from 21 of the best Italian skateboarders, who paid their visit to this unique skate plaza during the first year of its life. Thanks to Simone Verona, the man behind this crazy idea, the local traditions now meet the youth and their skateboarding needs. He’s also the man in charge of the direction of this documentary with the help and photography of Federico Romanello.
