A couple of years ago some guys in Belgium have had the wonderful idea of starting with a new brand Ungovernable Skateboards . Ungovernable Skateboards is a Belgian core skateboard brand , the clothing are handemade in Belgium by La T-Shirterie. Here is the interview with Fegy Feuggelen the founder and leader of Ungovernable Skateboards!

Enjoy reading 🙂

Ungovernable skateboards is a relatively new company from Belgium.
Tell us a bit about how this adventure was born… How did the idea of starting this company come about?

Every Wednesday we do a session with all the old dudes ( St-Dic, Rampelberg,Moules, Boulby, Moms…..) We often end up really late and after a few drinks we start coming up with new ideas. That’s how we started to create the Ungovernable T-shirts for the crew, and then the new decks and so on…..

Why the name Ungovernable?
This name was an evidence, at that time it had been almost two years that Belgium had no government and the medias were only talking about it…

When you first started the company, did you envision it being the way it is now? And how is it different than what you imagined?
We want to keep the company in a reasonable size, to make sure it stays in the good oldschool way. We do everything ourselves here at our studio: the prints, the stickers, the packaging, expect for the decks that are pressed in the States.

What is your favorite skateboard set-up and favorite skate discipline?
To be honest? …. My old fish 5,8 and water at 25°…

There are very good riders in your team . How did you have slected the team?
Barre and Thibault Lenaert are in the project from the beginning, Gregory Lagast is the most ungovernable rider of the Belgiam coast, Tim Jacops (who is studying Psychology) because we needed a doctor , there is also Stachon who is by far the best rider in Belgium and our little new one Jonathan Thijs, who is as cool as good.

What are you looking on a skater , which qualities are most important , to be a part of your team?
The motivation, just the will to ride and then, it’s down to the feeling.

Szymon Stachon has his PRO deck and the first UNGVBL pro deck.
Do you have any other new boards releasing in the near future or some new products (wheels, hoodies…)?

There will be the Jonathan Thijs’ promodel, which will be out in September and, later on, a Szymon’s one, and also loads of T-shirts, hoodies and so on…

Who’s been designing the skateboard graphics and logos? Qui a dessiné les graphiques des boards et tes logos?
I normally design the typos and the logos and Last Yardz the illustrations. For the autumn, MrX, a belgium artist, is preparing a deck full of colour in the 80’s style.

In your personal opinion, how has the skateboarding scene in your country changed over the years and what is it like now?
There are more parks and structures nowadays. The level is getting higher and especially in the smaller towns. Back in the days, all the good skaters were only coming from the bigger cities. It is no longer the case.

What are your plans for the future .. tour? in a video for the next year?
We go for a little tour in in the basque country in September and with Szymon we are preparing a video.

thanks for the interview, if you want to add anything go ahead
